Dr Vitz Albion Magnesium Bisglycinate Chelate, 200 mg per Capsule, 60 Capsules product format referenced in this guide

What is Albion magnesium? On a supplement label, Albion® is the chelated-mineral ingredient brand of Balchem, under the name Albion® Minerals. When the mark is printed on a magnesium line, it names an ingredient Balchem supplies, and the compound name beside it, such as magnesium bisglycinate chelate, says which one. TRAACS® is Albion’s mark for chelates Balchem describes as fully reacted. How the panel’s elemental magnesium amount differs from the weight of the whole compound is covered in magnesium glycinate vs citrate.

We read the listings and label images on Oct 28, 2026. Three of the four listings print Albion®, and one does not.

Who owns the Albion Minerals name

Albion® Minerals is a brand within Balchem. The footer of the Albion Minerals brand page says, “Balchem and other marks on this website are trademarks of Balchem Corporation or its subsidiaries.”

A retail bottle can repeat that ownership in a trademark footnote. On the NOW Magnesium Glycinate listing, the footnote names Albion® and the Albion Gold Medallion design as trademarks of Balchem Corporation or its subsidiaries. The mark on that bottle belongs to Balchem. NOW is the brand on the front of the label.

Meta Mag® is Balchem’s branded name for one of its magnesium ingredients. The Meta Mag page states: “Meta Mag® is Albion® Minerals’ branded magnesium bisglycinate chelate.” Balchem says Meta Mag® is the approved brand name that is registered / trademarked by Balchem Corporation, and that Meta Mag® and MetaMag may be used as search variations. None of the four listings in the table uses Meta Mag.

Chelate names that can sit next to Albion

Balchem’s magnesium bisglycinate chelate page says: “This fully reacted amino acid chelate binds magnesium with two glycine molecules.” The same page says, “We offer both original and buffered versions of Magnesium Bisglycinate Chelate.” For the buffered version, Balchem says “the buffered form utilizes an additional excess of magnesium oxide.”

The buffered form is that second version. The forms named on the page are Mg Bisglycinate Chelate Original, Mg Bisglycinate Chelate Buffered, Mg Bisglycinate Chelate Buffered Granular, Mg Bisglycinate Chelate Granular, and Mg Bisglycinate Chelate Taste-Free™.

Names that are not bisglycinate

Balchem’s magnesium ingredients also include magnesium lysinate glycinate chelate and dimagnesium malate. The NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database lists “Albion Magnesium Bisglycinate Chelate” as a mineral ingredient under magnesium. Related terms on labels there include “Albion dimagnesium malate,” “Albion magnesium,” and “Albion magnesium aspartate.”

An Albion magnesium label can name a compound other than bisglycinate. The word Albion by itself does not pick the compound. Read the name in the parentheses beside the mark.

The NIH ODS magnesium fact sheet for health professionals names magnesium oxide, citrate, and chloride as supplement forms. It does not mention glycinate or Albion. Those three examples are form names on a government fact sheet. Albion is the supplier’s trademark.

TRAACS, the mark a label can omit

On the Albion Minerals brand page, Balchem defines the mark in one sentence: “TRAACS® stands for The Real Amino Acid Chelate System and the TRAACS® designation is our assurance that this product is fully reacted and meets or exceeds our standards for verifying chelation.”

On the TRAACS page, TRAACS® is a co-brand mark, not a second company. The page titles it “TRAACS®: Albion’s® Mark of Distinction.” It says brands can “Co-brand with TRAACS® alongside the Albion® brand,” and that the mark is “Available for 20+ products.” A finished label can name Albion and leave TRAACS off. None of the four listings below shows TRAACS.

Four listings and where the Albion name sits

Prices in the table are the figures on each Amazon listing on Oct 28, 2026.

Product ASIN Albion on the listing TRAACS shown Compound name as written Elemental magnesium per serving Price on Amazon (as of Oct 28, 2026)

Lunakai Magnesium Glycinate, 90 capsules B0GMK73Y7Q Not on the listing No Magnesium glycinate (ingredients line) 120 mg per capsule (29% DV) $23.95

Albion can sit in the title and on the panel line, as on both Dr Vitz listings. It can sit only on the back panel and in a trademark footnote, as on NOW Magnesium Glycinate, whose front label says Magnesium Glycinate. It can be absent, as on Lunakai Magnesium Glycinate, 90 capsules.

The two Dr Vitz listings share a brand and the same panel wording. The 60-capsule panel serving is one capsule, and the 120-capsule panel serving is two capsules.

On both Dr Vitz panels, the buffered line lists magnesium oxide inside the same parentheses, matching Balchem’s description of a buffered form. NOW’s compound name is written “Magnesium Bisglycinate (Albion®),” and that line does not add the word buffered. The Lunakai listing also lists vitamin B6. Prices change. Check the listing.

Check a label for the Albion mark

  1. Find the magnesium line on the Supplement Facts panel.
  2. Read the parentheses for the compound name and for “(Albion®)”.
  3. Note whether the line says “buffered” or names magnesium oxide.
  4. Look for a TRAACS® mark or a Balchem trademark footnote.
  5. If none of those are on the label, the label does not say the ingredient is Albion.

A wider pass over serving size, amounts, and other ingredients is in how to compare supplement labels.

What is Albion magnesium on the pages we read

In the sources read on Oct 28, 2026, Albion magnesium comes down to a supplier mark, the compound name beside it, and TRAACS® only when a label prints that second mark. This page covers that wording. It does not compare effects, and it is not medical advice.

FAQ

Is TRAACS the same thing as Albion?

No. TRAACS® stands for The Real Amino Acid Chelate System. Balchem describes that designation as its assurance that a product is fully reacted and meets or exceeds its standards for verifying chelation. The TRAACS page says brands can co-brand TRAACS® alongside the Albion® brand, and that the mark is available for 20+ products. A label can name Albion and not show TRAACS. None of the four listings read on Oct 28, 2026 shows TRAACS.

Does every Albion ingredient name bisglycinate?

No. Balchem's magnesium ingredients include magnesium bisglycinate chelate, magnesium lysinate glycinate chelate, and dimagnesium malate. On the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database page for Albion Magnesium Bisglycinate Chelate, related label terms include Albion dimagnesium malate and Albion magnesium aspartate. Albion names the mark. The compound name beside it names the ingredient.

What does buffered mean on an Albion magnesium line?

Balchem offers original and buffered versions of Magnesium Bisglycinate Chelate, and says the buffered form utilizes an additional excess of magnesium oxide. On the Dr Vitz 60-capsule listing, ASIN B0GVBHV63S, the panel line names magnesium bisglycinate chelate buffered, then magnesium bisglycinate chelate and magnesium oxide, followed by Albion®.

Is Meta Mag an Albion ingredient?

Yes. Balchem states that Meta Mag® is Albion® Minerals' branded magnesium bisglycinate chelate, and that Meta Mag® is the approved brand name that is registered and trademarked by Balchem Corporation. Balchem also says Meta Mag® and MetaMag may be used as search variations. None of the four listings read for this page uses the Meta Mag name.
