How to Mix Collagen Powder Into Coffee, Hot or Iced

How to mix collagen powder into coffee, hot or iced: brand steps for stirring, a frother, lukewarm water, gram servings, and a gelatin check.

Micro Ingredients Marine Collagen Powder, 1 lb (454 g) product format referenced in this guide

How to mix collagen powder into coffee depends on whether the cup is hot or iced. These steps are for hydrolyzed collagen peptides, not gelatin. The pages we read start with the drink, or with lukewarm water, then the powder. For hot coffee, stir until the powder is fully dissolved, as Vital Proteins prints, or use a frother or a whisk, as Landish prints. For iced coffee, dissolve the powder in lukewarm water first: fill the glass 1/3 of the way, add the scoop, then the ice and the cold liquid.

We read and compared the brands’ directions and labels, checked Oct 28, 2026. We did not mix these powders.

What four brands’ own directions say

Each row is one manufacturer page. “Not stated on this page” means that page is silent. The Micro Ingredients row is the marine collagen page. The Great Lakes coffee line and “totally up to you” are on its FAQ, quoted in the hot-coffee section.

Brand Hot drink step Cold or iced step Liquid amount stated? Clump tool named Checked
Micro Ingredients “Mix 2 full scoops with your favorite beverage” (no temperature) Not stated on this page Not stated on this page Not stated on this page Oct 28, 2026
Vital Proteins Stir until “fully dissolved”; frother pro tip Lukewarm water to 1/3, then scoop, ice, cold liquid 1/3 of the glass; no ounce or milliliter amount Frother Oct 28, 2026
Great Lakes Wellness “Add 2 scoops to your drink and stir.” FAQ: “a regular cup of coffee” Not stated on this page for collagen peptides “totally up to you” Not stated on this page Oct 28, 2026
Landish Handheld frother, countertop milk frother, or whisk Not stated on this page Not stated on this page Frother or whisk Oct 28, 2026

No brand gives a liquid volume per serving. Great Lakes says “the amount of liquid is totally up to you.” Vital Proteins’ “1/3 of the way” is a fraction of the glass, not a measured pour. Landish and Vital Proteins name a frother. Landish also names a whisk. The other two pages say mix or stir and name no tool.

Collagen powder in hot coffee

On these pages, the powder goes into coffee that is already in the cup. Use this order for hydrolyzed collagen peptides.

  1. Great Lakes Wellness, on its how to use page, checked Oct 28, 2026, says: “Step 2 - Add 2 scoops to your drink and stir.” Its FAQ, checked Oct 28, 2026, says “the amount of liquid is totally up to you. You can add two scoops into a regular cup of coffee in the morning”.

  2. Vital Proteins, on 5 Ways To Make The Most Of Your Collagen Drink, checked Oct 28, 2026, says: “For hot drinks, we simply suggest thoroughly stirring in the powder until it’s fully dissolved. (Pro tip: Reach for a frother for a foamy top-off …)”

  3. Landish, on clumps in hot coffee or tea, checked Oct 28, 2026, says: “we recommend using our handheld frother. Alternatively, you can use an automatic countertop milk frother by filling it with liquid, turning it on, and then adding the powder directly into it. If you don’t have access to a frother, then a whisk will do the trick.”

  4. Micro Ingredients, on its marine collagen page, checked Oct 28, 2026, does not split hot from cold: “Suggested Use Mix 2 full scoops with your favorite beverage and enjoy daily for your routine.” The Amazon listing for that pouch, read Oct 28, 2026, names coffee in this bullet: “An unflavored easy-to-mix marine collagen supplement, add it to any of your favorite drinks like coffee, tea, or smoothies.”

The best way to mix collagen powder in coffee, from these pages, is that brand’s hot-drink order: coffee first, powder next, then stir or froth. None of them names a required cup size.

How to mix collagen powder into iced coffee

The only cold-drink order in this set is one paragraph from Vital Proteins. On the article linked above, checked Oct 28, 2026, it writes:

“If blending in cold liquid, start with filling your glass 1/3 of the way with lukewarm water, adding a scoop or two of collagen, then topping it off with cold liquid and mixing for the best sipping experience. Using ice? Follow the same steps, adding ice before topping off your collagen drink with cold water.”

For iced coffee or cold brew, use that order:

  1. Fill the glass 1/3 of the way with lukewarm water.
  2. Add a scoop or two of collagen peptides and mix that portion.
  3. Add ice before the cold coffee if you are using ice.
  4. Top off with the cold coffee or cold brew. The sentences say “cold liquid” and, for ice, “cold water.” They do not print a separate cold-brew recipe, so cold brew uses the same order.

Micro Ingredients, Great Lakes, and Landish do not print an iced order on the pages in the table. Landish’s frother and whisk lines are for hot liquids.

Hydrolyzed peptides versus gelatin on the pouch

The iced order above is for a pouch that says collagen peptides or hydrolyzed. Gelatin steps end with a firm gel.

Vital Proteins, on its FAQ, checked Oct 28, 2026, says: “Yes, our Collagen Peptides are hydrolyzed, they can be easily added to any hot or cold food or beverage.” It also says: “Collagen Peptides can dissolve in both hot and cold liquids without changing the consistency or texture. Beef Gelatin will thicken liquids, which is why we suggest adding it to your favorite soup, stew, or gummy recipe.”

Great Lakes, on its FAQ, checked Oct 28, 2026, says its peptides are “ideal for mixing into coffee, smoothies, or juice—no clumping, no gelling.” Then: “Gelatin, on the other hand, must be dissolved in warm liquid and forms a gel when cooled”.

Its how to use page, checked Oct 28, 2026, gives gelatin these steps:

“Step 2 - Pour 1 tablespoon of gelatin in ½ cup of cold water. Let it sit for approximately 5 minutes.”

“Step 3 - Dissolve the mixture into 1½ cups of very hot liquid …”

“Step 4 - Pour the liquid into a mold tray and allow the gelatin to chill until firm before serving.”

Step 4 finishes when the gelatin is firm, in a mold. That is a different job from iced coffee. Read the pouch: collagen peptides or hydrolyzed follows the stir and the lukewarm-water order. Gelatin follows the bloom, the very hot liquid, and the chill.

Collagen gram weights are not interchangeable

Two scoops is not one weight across brands. Read the grams on your pouch, and use the scoop that pouch includes.

Micro Ingredients marine collagen, 1 lb, is labeled 2 scoops ≈12 g. The Amazon listing, read Oct 28, 2026, says “12g of pure marine fish collagen per serving” and “Each pouch includes a scoop inside to get the perfect measurement, a 1lb supply, and up to 37 servings”.

Micro Ingredients multi collagen peptides, 1 lb, is labeled 2 scoops ≈11 g, about 41 servings. The Amazon listing, read Oct 28, 2026, says “Offers up to 11g of pure pasture raised collagen peptides per serving” and “Mix it into any of your favorite drinks”. Directions: “As a dietary supplement, take 2 scoops daily. For best results, please consult your physician.” That listing names no temperature and no liquid volume.

Great Lakes, on its FAQ, checked Oct 28, 2026, says: “Elevating our collagen offering from 12g to 20g … *Bovine only, excludes stick packs”. That 12 g to 20 g note is for its bovine collagen, not stick packs, and it is not the 11 g or 12 g Micro Ingredients line. Follow the serving on the pouch you opened.

The marine 1 lb pouch was $29.99 on Amazon as of Oct 28, 2026, and the multi collagen 1 lb pouch was $34.95 on Amazon as of Oct 28, 2026. Prices change.

Does hot coffee damage collagen peptides?

The brand pages we read put collagen peptides in hot or cold drinks. Vital Proteins says they “can be easily added to any hot or cold food or beverage” and “can dissolve in both hot and cold liquids”. Great Lakes says they are “ideal for mixing into coffee”. None of those pages prints a temperature limit. This page makes no claim beyond that.

Coffee clumps that have already formed

The fixes these pages name are a longer stir, a frother, or a whisk. Landish says to fill the countertop frother with liquid, turn it on, then add the powder, and: “If you don’t have access to a frother, then a whisk will do the trick.” Vital Proteins says to stir a hot drink until the powder is “fully dissolved.”

Clumps already inside a damp pouch are a storage problem. See how to store and scoop Micro Ingredients powders.

How to mix collagen powder into coffee, from the directions we read

Everything on this page about how to mix collagen powder into coffee comes from brand directions and labels we read and compared, checked Oct 28, 2026. We did not stir these powders ourselves. This is not medical advice. Hot coffee gets the peptides stirred in, or a frother or whisk. Iced coffee and cold brew get lukewarm water, then the peptides, then ice, then the cold coffee. A gelatin pouch follows the gelatin steps, which finish as a firm gel.

FAQ

Should collagen powder go into the mug before the coffee?

The directions we read start with liquid, then powder. Great Lakes says to add 2 scoops to your drink and stir. Landish says to fill a countertop milk frother with liquid, turn it on, and then add the powder. For a cold drink, Vital Proteins starts with the glass 1/3 full of lukewarm water, then a scoop or two, then ice if you use it, then cold liquid. None of those pages says to put dry powder in an empty mug and pour coffee over it.

What order does Vital Proteins print for collagen in a cold drink?

On its collagen-drink article, checked Oct 28, 2026, Vital Proteins says to fill the glass 1/3 of the way with lukewarm water, add a scoop or two of collagen, then top it off with cold liquid. If you use ice, add the ice before topping off. The ice version names cold water as that top-off. The earlier sentence names cold liquid. Iced coffee or cold brew can stand in as that cold liquid. The page does not print a separate cold-brew recipe or a measured ounce volume.

What should I do when collagen powder clumps in hot coffee?

Landish, for hot liquids such as coffee or tea, says to use its handheld frother, or an automatic countertop milk frother filled with liquid and turned on before the powder goes in. If you do not have a frother, Landish says a whisk will do the trick. Vital Proteins says to stir a hot drink until the powder is fully dissolved, and names a frother as a pro tip. Those are mixing tools for the cup. Clumps inside a damp pouch are a storage issue, covered on our store-and-scoop guide.

Can gelatin follow the same iced-coffee steps as collagen peptides?

Not if you follow the steps those brands print. Vital Proteins says its collagen peptides are hydrolyzed and can be added to hot or cold drinks, while beef gelatin will thicken liquids. Great Lakes says gelatin must be dissolved in warm liquid and forms a gel when cooled. Its gelatin steps are to bloom 1 tablespoon in 1/2 cup of cold water for about 5 minutes, dissolve that in very hot liquid, pour it into a mold, and chill until firm. A firm gel is a different result from iced coffee. Read the pouch for collagen peptides or hydrolyzed versus gelatin.

Do the brand pages we read print a coffee temperature limit?

No. The Vital Proteins, Great Lakes, Micro Ingredients, and Landish pages checked on Oct 28, 2026 describe collagen peptides in hot or cold drinks, or name a frother for hot coffee or tea. None of them prints a maximum coffee temperature. This page does not add a number they did not print.
